California Sun (Not yet available)

Meet California Sun, a very handsome five-year-old will soon be arriving with us from Hong Kong.

His racing and retraining reports describe him as having a quiet, calm temperament and being easy and very good to ride, with no abnormal or aggressive behaviours observed. During his time at Beas River, he was also reported to be very good to handle both in the stable and on the ground.

California Sun has already begun some basic retraining and is described as a lovely horse with attractive, elastic movement. At this stage, however, he is still lacking strength and balance through his trot and canter work and can be stiff and tense under saddle. He is beginning to work into a frame on the lunge but isn't yet established into a consistent contact when ridden.

He has also started some basic hacking around the yard and was considered a horse who would particularly benefit from more time to develop physically before progressing further with his retraining - something we're very happy to give him.

He'll have time to settle into life here at Spiteri Retraining, allowing us to get to know him properly and assess him ourselves before deciding what type of future home and job will suit him best.

🏡 In time, California Sun will be available on a permanent homing agreement, but he is NOT currently available and we aren't taking enquiries for him just yet.

For now, we'll be letting this lovely boy settle in and enjoy being a horse after his journey from Hong Kong.
