Sweet Moon is a beautifully bred 5-year-old mare by Havana Gold. She was in training but never raced and spent two years enjoying some well-earned downtime at Kirtlington Stud following the sad passing of her owner.

Standing at 16.1hh, Sweet Moon is a lovely stamp of a mare with a bright future ahead of her. Since arriving with us, she has gone back into full work and has proven herself to be an absolute sweetheart. She hasn't put a foot out of line and has settled onto the yard beautifully, taking everything in her stride.

She is kind, genuine, and a pleasure to handle in every way. Whether in the stable, on the ground, or under saddle, Sweet Moon has been nothing but lovely to work with. She is happy being turned out both in company and on her own, and has adapted seamlessly to her new routine.

One thing that has really stood out about Sweet Moon is her temperament. She has even had a go at horseback archery, where she proved to be an absolute saint. She has been ridden without reins, happily tolerated all sorts of unusual activities, and has even had a bow and arrow fired from her back whilst cantering without batting an eyelid.

Under saddle, she has hacked out both in company and alone and has been a real sweetheart so far. She is a beautiful mover, is incredibly well put together, and is presented in excellent condition. She breaks every stereotype there is about chestnut mares and is an absolute pleasure to have around.

As Sweet Moon is still only five years old, she will need a capable and competent rider to continue her education and bring out her full potential. However, everything we have seen from her so far suggests she has all the attributes to make a fantastic all-round riding horse. She is genuine, willing, level-headed, and enjoys her work.

Having been in training but never raced, Sweet Moon remains eligible for most Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) leagues and competitions, offering plenty of opportunities for her next owner to enjoy.

She is a truly lovely mare with a kind nature, a trainable attitude, and all the ingredients to excel in a variety of disciplines. We are very excited to see what the future holds for this special girl.
