Youth Power (Not yet available)

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have some beautiful horses come through the yard over the last 20 years, but Youth Power has made quite the first impression.

This lovely six-year-old gelding finished racing at the end of last year and has since enjoyed some well-earned downtime at the “spa” in Hong Kong before beginning his retraining at Beas River.

He’s arrived here looking absolutely fabulous and, quite frankly, riding him can only be likened to driving a Rolls-Royce. Not that I’ve ever driven a Rolls-Royce… 😂

Standing somewhere around 16–16.1hh, I’m yet to put a stick on him , he’s relatively compact and beautifully put together. And the movement! He is quite possibly one of the biggest-moving Thoroughbreds I’ve ever had through the yard. There is an enormous amount of horse packed into a relatively neat little package.

Youth Power was bred in Italy, where he began his racing career on the Flat before heading to Hong Kong, enjoying a successful career on the track and earning more than £270,000.

At just six years old, he has his whole second career ahead of him and, while it’s very early days, he has performance horse written all over him. I’m incredibly excited to see what direction he takes because I suspect the sky could be the limit for this boy.

For now, though, he’ll continue settling in and we’ll spend some time getting to know him properly.
