Togepi (“Tog”) – class, charisma, and a proper job horse

Last but by no means least of the Hong Kong boys… and a bit of a yard favourite, if we’re being honest.

Meet Togepi – a 16.1hh 9-year-old gelding with an impressive past and an exciting future ahead. During his racing career in Hong Kong, Tog amassed substantial winnings, proving himself as a genuine athlete with both ability and heart.

Since arriving in the UK, he’s been busy turning his hoof to a bit of everything. He’s enjoyed beach trips, fun rides, cross-country schooling, riding club clinics, and plenty of hacking – all of which he’s taken on with enthusiasm and a very clear attitude of “yes please, what’s next?”

Tog is a forward-going ride who thrives on having a bond with his rider. He’s not for a novice, and he won’t be wasted in a home where he’s just expected to plod.

This is a horse for someone who understands Thoroughbreds and enjoys riding something with a bit of engine and purpose.

And what an engine it is.

He is an exceptionally talented mover – genuinely one of the nicest moving Thoroughbreds you’ll come across (bias fully acknowledged). He’s got beautiful shoulder freedom, big, flowing paces, and the sort of presence that will turn heads wherever he goes – whether that’s in the show ring or out and about.

On the ground, he’s an absolute gent. Kind, genuine, and loves attention – the sort who will happily stand and soak up the fuss all day if you let him.

Out and about, he’s generally very sensible. He may have the occasional look at a suspicious crisp packet, rogue sheep, or a particularly offensive bin bag… yet seems entirely unbothered by large vehicles and general chaos – the logic of horses at its finest. He’s the sort you could hack past an articulated lorry without issue, but might question a hedge / twig that’s slightly out of place.

Tog would be ideally suited to a home with previous Thoroughbred experience, where his forward-thinking nature will be appreciated and enjoyed. In the right hands, he has all the attributes to make a fantastic competition horse or a very smart all-rounder with presence and quality.

He does have some age-related wear and tear reflective of a successful racing career. Everything is open and transparent, and I’m very happy to discuss this in detail with genuinely interested parties – full veterinary history and export records are available. Nothing that will prohibit him from a long and successful new career.

He is an incredibly kind horse who deserves nothing but the best. Absolutely no novices or first time horse owners please.
