Buddy is a beautiful 16.3hh 7-year-old gelding, imported from Hong Kong earlier this year, now based here in Wales and ready to find his long term home having last raced in April 2025.

Since arriving, Buddy has enjoyed a varied lifestyle, including beach rides, fun rides, schooling, and plenty of hacking both on the roads and in open spaces. He has proven himself to be an absolute gentleman in every way – easy to handle in the stable, kind on the ground, and a real pleasure to ride.

Prior to coming to the UK, Buddy spent time at Beas River, where he established a solid foundation. Since then, his education has continued to progress nicely. He has done pole work, happily pops a log, and has gained valuable hacking experience.

Out hacking, Buddy is:

Excellent in company – confident, relaxed, and will pass most things without hesitation.

On the flat, Buddy is coming on really well. He has:

A lovely, established walk and trot

A canter that is improving all the time

A naturally nice way of going

He has all the attributes to make a lovely low-level all-round competition horse or a fun, versatile riding horse.

Buddy is a kind, genuine type who will thrive in a one-to-one home where he can continue to build a partnership with his rider.

Health & Additional Info:

Up to date with vaccinations

Registered with RoR

Previously had a bout of cellulitis (late last year), leaving minor cosmetic swelling on the hock

Fully vetted pre-export– no underlying issues or future concerns for a life of low level fun and adventures.

Buddy is a straightforward, honest horse with a bright future ahead. He’s ready for someone to make him their own and enjoy everything he has to offer.

Retraining Comment:

* YEAH BUDDY’s racing report states he had a quiet/calm temperament and was easy/very good to ride.

No abnormal or aggressive behaviours were observed.

At Beas River, we found him good to handle both in the stable and on the ground.

He has begun retraining on the lunge and under saddle. He is a quiet ride with regular paces and decent trainability. He is working into a contact but can be downhill in the frame, lean on the riders’ hands, and become heavy at times.

He is very well behaved to hack out.

For export as he will benefit from more time to develop.

Clinical examination prior to export revealed:

1. Sound to trot in hand on a firm surface in a straight line.

2. Moderate chronic thickening over dorsal proximal third metatarsal bone LH with no pain on palpation, consistent with previous cellulitis. Distal limb palpation and passive flexion revealed no significant findings otherwise.

3. Shod routinely.

4. No abnormalities noted on ophthalmic examination of the eyes and auscultation of the heart.

5. In good coat condition with a body condition score of 4/9.

6. Back mobility was found to be within normal limits for age and type on palpation.

7. Routine dental rasp performed in January 2026.
